The Challenge
Encirc faced multiple logistical challenges due to the high volume of operations required to serve its extensive network:
- Growing Storage Needs: With production facilities in Elton and Derrylin, Encirc required a large-scale storage solution to manage stock overflow effectively.
- Flexible Capacity Management: Seasonal demands and unforeseen disruptions, such as ferry crossing issues, necessitated an adaptable, agile logistics partner.
- Sustainability Goals: Encirc sought innovative solutions to reduce plastic waste and improve overall environmental efficiency in its supply chain.
- Operational Accuracy: The company needed precise, data-driven inventory management to maintain optimal stock levels and address non-conformant pallet issues.
The Solution
Kammac provided a tailored suite of solutions to meet Encirc’s needs:
- Purpose-Built Facilities: The 379,000 sq. ft. Warrington site, established in 2022, became Encirc’s largest external stockholding location, accommodating up to 64,000 pallets at peak capacity.
- Flexible Operations: Kammac rapidly scaled operations, adding 14,000 pallets within four weeks during April 2024. This was achieved through extended shifts, additional staff, and operational adjustments.
- Advanced Logistics Technology: Kammac’s Warehouse Management System (WMS), enhanced with SSCC bolt-on technology, offered Encirc real-time inventory control and accurate forecasting/
- Sustainability Innovations: Solutions such as de-shrouding pallets and implementing tension banding guns reduced plastic waste and improved product stability. Recycled shrink wrap ensured zero waste in this process.
- Non-Conformance Reporting: A comprehensive 11-step risk assessment identified non-conformant pallets, reducing waste and damage.
