FAQs
Medical logistics encompasses the full range of activities involved in managing the flow of healthcare products; from manufacturing to the point of patient care.
This includes sourcing, transportation, storage, inventory management, and distribution of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and equipment. It also involves maintaining product safety, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery.
At Kammac, we support this process through compliant warehousing and distribution, ensuring that products are stored under the correct conditions and reach their destination safely and on time.
Pharmaceutical warehousing involves the specialised storage and handling of medicines in facilities designed to meet strict requirements for temperature, humidity, and contamination control. These warehouses ensure that pharmaceuticals are safely stored and distributed while maintaining their quality and effectiveness.
Features like temperature-controlled areas, cleanrooms, and security systems help meet industry standards as set out by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), such as Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
Beyond storage, these warehouses manage inventory, quality control, documentation, and logistics, ensuring product integrity, traceability, and compliance throughout the supply chain.
We manage risks in the pharmaceutical supply chain through thorough due diligence and robust processes. We ensure traceability by maintaining detailed records, which allow us to track products from the manufacturer all the way to the end patient.
This also simplifies handling product recalls, enabling us to quickly identify and remove affected items. Additionally, we remain responsible for the supply chain both before and after our involvement, ensuring safety and compliance at every stage.
Using a pharmaceuticals warehouse offers key benefits:
Product Safety: Pharmaceuticals need controlled environments to protect them from temperature changes, humidity, and contamination. Proper storage ensures the drugs remain safe and effective for patients.
Regulatory Compliance: Warehousing practices meet strict industry standards as set out by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), such as Good Distribution Practice (GDP), helping companies avoid penalties and ensure product quality. Licenses held by Kammac under GDP include; Wholesale Dealer’s Authorisation – WDA (H) WDA (V). We’re also able to hold Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
Traceability: Accurate record-keeping allows for easy tracking of products through the supply chain, which is essential for managing recalls or addressing safety issues.
What is most impressive both from a Warehousing perspective and Transport is the ability to react to the urgent needs of the business supporting the NHS over and above what is expected. This is and has been very much a sustained approach from Kammac as a business at all levels from senior leaders to the staff on the shop floor.
There is a huge confidence in Kammac as a business to support all our needs on a daily basis, Kammac as a service provider have been exceptional to the point we now see Kammac as a business partner which in itself speaks volumes.
Monthly SLA’s achieved and sustained for all operational and transport with excellent support and communication out to Unipart Group.
For myself the last 18 months has seen many challenges in which we have not faced – Brexit, Covid and Supporting the Unrest in Ukraine in which Kammac have again provided consistently solid support. The will to constantly improve and work alongside Unipart has seen many of successes.
This is not just my view but the view of the business to the point we have just agreed to extend the life of the partnership with Kammac to the full extent of Unipart’s current agreement with the NHS.
