Kammac was approached by The Morelli Group within the automotive supply chain in the North East of England. As a major player in the automotive sector, they sought support for one of their key Chinese suppliers catering to the UK market: Foresight.
Foresight imports a range of automotive components, such as centre consoles and other vehicle fixtures, which are essential to the production line. Within just a week of the initial site visit, the first pallet entered our North East facility at Kammac North Shields 48, ready to begin operations.
The Challenge
Kammac was tasked with providing comprehensive support for container destuffing, storage, and offering dedicated space for processing, sorting, quality assurance, and repair work. This had to be done within tight time constraints to meet the manufacturer’s Just-In-Time (JIT) and Just-In-Sequence (JIS) production requirements.
The Solution
Kammac quickly transformed our warehouse to accommodate Foresight’s needs. We established clearly marked areas for receiving pallets, inspection, repair, storage, and goods-out, ensuring smooth workflow and operational efficiency. We also expanded the workforce by 300%, provided detailed training to all staff, and implemented robust documentation procedures to ensure a seamless contract start.
To further enhance transparency and traceability, we introduced a specialised Warehouse Management System (WMS) and equipped the site with handheld scanning systems. These technologies allowed for real-time tracking of products, improving operational accuracy.
Communication across different languages and time zones was managed through regular feedback sessions, scheduled communication times, and formal confirmation of all actions taken and agreed upon. This ensured smooth coordination between the UK and international teams. Kammac also established a dedicated transport solution to streamline product flow from the warehouse to the client’s production facilities.
The Results
Since the beginning of the partnership, Kammac has processed over 127,000 units on behalf of Foresight. By avoiding production line stoppages and effectively managing JIT distribution, we’ve played a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the client’s supply chain.
Future Expansion
As the operation continues to grow, Kammac has expanded its offering to include external storage for additional shipping containers, allowing for greater flexibility in handling future shipments.
